A partnership for digital security
Cyber security is no longer optional—it’s a necessity. That’s why ATP SpA and the Italian State Police have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening digital system protection and preventing cyberattacks
The agreement, signed at ATP’s headquarters in Sassari, marks a major step forward in safeguarding the critical digital infrastructure of public transportation.
The first protocol in Northern Sardinia
The agreement was signed in the presence of Sassari’s Chief of Police, Dr. Filiberto Mastrapasqua, ATP PresidentPaolo Depperu, and Cyber Security Operations Center Sardinia Director Francesco Greco.
It is the first agreement of its kind in Northern Sardinia, representing a key step toward protecting sensitive data and enhancing regional digital security.
Securing data to ensure service continuity
ATP’s systems contain crucial information, including bank data, financial transactions, and personal details of users. A cyberattack could disrupt operations, paralyzing the entire transport network and causing severe inconvenience to citizens.
Through its partnership with the Postal Police, ATP will strengthen its digital defenses, preventing unauthorized access, cyber fraud, and data misuse.
Training and continuous updates
Beyond technological protection, the protocol includes a comprehensive training program for ATP staff.
Employees will be educated on cyber risks, while ICT managers will receive specialized updates on secure network configuration and cyberattack management.
Cyber security is a top priority
“Signing this protocol,” said ATP President Paolo Depperu, “is a crucial step toward ensuring digital security in our region. We have faced cyberattacks in the past, but thanks to swift action, we prevented disruptions.
This experience highlighted the importance of strengthening digital defenses and preventing future threats.”
A national effort against cybercrime
The protocol is part of a broader national strategy to protect digital infrastructure for public service entities and companies. “Securing critical infrastructure is a national priority,” explained Cyber security Operations Center Sardinia Director Francesco Greco.
“This agreement strengthens cooperation between public institutions and private companies to combat cybercrime and prevent cyberattacks.”
Thanks to this collaboration, ATP will provide a safer, more reliable service to the community while protecting its systems and the sensitive data of its users.
