Trust isn’t enough: why Zero Trust matters
In the rapidly changing world of cyber security, one concept stands out: Zero Trust. According to the new global report “The Trust Report: From Risk Management to Strategic Resilience in Cyber Security” by DXC Technology in collaboration with Microsoft, the Zero Trust model has become an essential framework for protecting organizations against a constantly evolving threat landscape.
The study, based on interviews with over one hundred cyber security experts across four continents, reveals that 83% of organizations adopting Zero Trust have successfully reduced security incidents and cut recovery costs. However, only 30% currently leverage AI-based authentication systems, showing a vast untapped potential for artificial intelligence in enhancing corporate security.
Zero Trust: a continuous journey, not a one-time setup
The report emphasizes that Zero Trust is not a static defense but an ongoing journey requiring deep cultural transformation.
About 66% of organizations identify legacy systems as their biggest barrier to adoption, while 72% cite emerging cyber threats as the main driver for improving their security policies.
Interestingly, more than half of respondents found an unexpected benefit: Zero Trust not only strengthens protection but also improves user experience by creating smoother and safer access workflows.
DXC recommends a phased and strategic approach, starting with identity control and privilege segmentation, before expanding the framework to networks, data, and devices.
AI and Zero Trust: a powerful yet underused duo
Artificial intelligence is the most promising frontier in cyber security but adoption remains cautious.
As Dawn-Marie Vaughan, Global Offering Lead Cyber Security at DXC, explains:
“With the acceleration of AI-powered threats, organizations must take a holistic approach that involves identities, devices, networks, applications, and data. At DXC, we help clients embed Zero Trust into their culture and technology, using AI both as a shield and a strategic ally.”
According to Alex Simons, CVP at Microsoft Entra, integrating Microsoft and DXC Zero Trust solutions enables organizations to simplify operations, reduce costs, and gain better visibility and control, speeding up the transition toward a resilient cyber security architecture.
Why the future of security is Zero Trust
The Zero Trust model overturns traditional security logic: trust no one by default.
Every user, device, and connection must be continuously verified, monitored, and authenticated.
In a world where AI enhances both defense and attack, the principle “never trust, always verify” becomes more than a policy it’s a proactive defense mindset.
